International Volunteer Day is celebrated every 5 December. As volunteering is an important part of our research, the iLIVE Project has also conmemorated this day remembering the important labor volunteers do every day for end-of-life care patients and their relatives.
One of our main lines of action deals with the creation of a volunteer program, to measure the effects an initiative like this can have on the wellbeing of patients in Palliative Care. For this, a training program have also been developed and different teams of volunteers are taking part in the study.
From the iLIVE project we also want to thank the patients and relatives that are taking part in the study, as well as the health professionals that are collaborating with us on this program.
Celebrations from our teams
From the Cudeca center in Spain, one of our partners in this study, they have launched a video thanking their volunteers' force for their commitment and compassion to all the patients treated in their hospice.
Also from the Uniklinik in Köln they have issued a thank you note to all their volunteers and their important role. "The Centre for Palliative Medicine would like to thank the volunteers in the hospital who contribute in many areas with commitment, empathy and heart. Patients and their relatives, but also the staff of the Centre, experience valuable support as a result", they have published on their website.
